I am Magen Krones and I am a Designer, born and raised in Iowa, whom recently adventured out to Philadelphia to pursue a career in design. I began college as a computer science major and after three years was finding it was not fulfilling all my creative needs. After having my analytical and creative abilities challenged in a course called “Problems in Design” I knew that I had found my calling.
I am passionate about creating unique solutions to design dilemmas, and strive to create pieces that are highly functional, inviting to use, and attract attention. I design with the fabrication process in mind as I’m creating because the small details of assembling a project are crucial to the overall completed design. I enjoy experimenting with joinery and finding ways to maximize the use of CNC technologies while minimizing the amount of hand crafting to create a product that can be mass produced with little waste.
I graduated from the University of Iowa with my
BFA in 3D Design. My secondary focuses were metalworking/jewelry-making and painting.
